The Webbs weave a wild adventure Karen and Rob Webb are far too busy to even con- template taking wedding bookings at their new venture. Four years ago they bought Onetangi Road Vineyard and Baroona Brewery from George Craddock. They rebranded the property and launched their corporate events business Wild on Wai- heke, offering team building, archery and laser clay bird shooting. They also rebranded their wines Top Knot Hill, after researching the history of the area and finding out that Top Knot Hill, also known as Rangihoua, or Putiki o Kahu, was named after the chief who established the pa site at the top of the hill in the mid-1400s. The chief wore his long hair in a top knot. The wines and beers were available for tasting at the venue, but since Labour Weekend the Webbs have also been busy with their new fully licensed restaurant, doing a roaring trade in pizza -- which have Baroona beer in the recipe -- and gourmet pies. We still do a lot of cor- porate team building but the emphasis now is on being able to bring the kids along. Mums and dads have been finding it relaxing because we have a flat lawn and a fantastic playground,'' Karen says. With Christmas bookings going well, things are a little wild at Wild on Waiheke. So would-be brides will have to wait until the Webbs can include wild weddings.
