Going for the finish line: The girls' canoe race. The annual Rocky Bay Regatta starts at 10am this Sunday. It is a day of activities for the entire family with yacht and power boat races, canoe races and swimming competitions for everyone. Small children can take part in a treasure hunt and sand castle competition. There will also be raffles, a sausage sizzle and soft drinks. It is the biggest regatta and picnic on Waiheke and has been going since 1947. In earlier years reg- attas included a bathing beauty contest and a New Year's dance.
