Photo: MARG GRAYDON Central Auckland MP Nikki Kaye and cel- ebrated marathon run- ner Allison Roe were two of more than 800 runners and walkers who took to the roads on Saturday as part of the annual Wharf to Wharf fun run. Ms Kaye ran the full 25km from Orapiu to Matiatia in a little over three hours. She says she was still feeling it'' the following day. Ms Roe won the women's 7km run from Kennedy Pt and was kept busy presenting the prizes at the race end. Previous winner Scott Winton took the 25km men's race leaving the rest of the field in his wake. Mr Winton, who narrowly missed a place at the last Olympics, crossed the finish line in 1hr 33min 2sec, ahead of second placed Roman Kruszewski in 1hr 41min 14sec. Third was Graeme Pearson in 1hr 43min 57sec. Johanna Ottoson won the women's 25km run in 1hr 47min 8sec. Second place was Debbie Fillery in 1hr 55min 55sec and third was Corna Mills in 1hr 56min 32sec. The event is a fundraiser for Waiheke Dolphins Netball Club and Waiheke Rotary. Rotary spokesman David Healy says: The atmosphere throughout the event and prizegiving was a delight tobepartof--areally positive Waiheke occasion.
