Jazz pianist JOHN MACKAY & Bassist Olivier Holland bring you an evening of Chopin as you've never heard him before! Songwriters come to play Female singer songwriter night: Katy Soljak and guests will perform at the Rocks. Special guest: Michelle Nadia will perform some originals. By GEORGE GARDNER Katy Soljak will headline a night of female singer- songwriters at the Rocks this Saturday. Katy, who is best known for her blues style and performances with guitarist Billy TK, will be singing some new folk-influenced material accompanied by guitarist Doug Jerebine -- known as New Zealand s top rock guitarist in the late 1960s. I ve been working on some songs for recording over the last two years, Katy says. Doug has arranged them, helped with the recording and has played guitar on them. We have close to 10 songs recorded. Special guest Michelle Nadia was spotted by music promoter Graham Hooper in Auckland. I liked her lyrics, they spoke to me about her feeling for New Zealand. Her music has a jazzy, folky pop influence. Auckland duo Disaster Jacket will also play, along with Waiheke performers Patience Scarles and Jay B James. The first 100 tickets sold at Shop the Rock are $6, or $10 at door. Music starts at 8pm. The Rocks is on Belgium St, Ostend. Visit www.waihekemarket place.co.nz to see Katy Soljak sing.
