By JEROME GAVELLE The Mano Pratt Band plays its first gig on Friday at the Rocky Bay Hall. The band performs at two other island venues next week during the Waiheke Island International Jazz festival. Although it's the band's debut performance, the members are seasoned musicians. Mano is well known for his guitar playing on the island, but will also feature on keyboard and vocals. His son Ngamanaaki Pratt is on guitar, Leonie Perry on guitar and vocals, Manuel Kahura on drums, Pete Carahi on bass, Pete McNamara on alto sax and keyboard, and Pete Kelly on trumpet and trombone. The band will play original songs composed by Mano from his album Chill'n out with Mano which features a range of styles from jazz to ballads, cruisy funk, swing blues and Pacific reggae. We will also be giving Leonie Perry some good space to express herself and show off her talent singing jazz standards,'' Mano says. Tenor sax player Reese Hel- mondollar won't be at Friday's gig but is planning to join the band for the jazz festival. The band kicks off the Good Friday Groove at Rangihoua Estate at noon until 1pm as part of the five-hour festival event, and it will also play at The Dunes in Onetangi on Easter Sunday, from noon to 1.45pm, as part of the Jaz- zabout daytime series. Friday's gig starts at 8pm and entry is $15. Call Dave Malan on 372-6710 for tickets.
