Sika sounds in concert Self-taught: Instrumental magician Sika plays Artworks Theatre this Saturday. A Sika concert is some- thing to behold. The musician uses as many as 25 instru- ments from all around the world. The international didgeridoo celebrity will perform at Art- works Theatre this Saturday night. He plays didji, drums and percussion and electronic sequences at the same time. Taking multi-tasking to the max, Sika also does his own sound mixing on stage, using special effects to add to the overall experience. The didgeridoo mae- stro has been playing this ancient aboriginal instrument for more than 20 years. It has taken him around the world 16 times, performing at an impressive list of venues, including at the Te Papa 10th anni- versary celebration, Aotea Centre, West- minster Abbey in London for World Peace Day, The Com- monwealth Institute in London, New Zealand Embassy in London and Glastonbury Festi- val. Self-taught, Sika s music appeals to a wide audience and his stage presence, good humour and dancing make his concerts popular. I like to feel con- nected to the natural rhythms of life and my gigs are a chance to express my love for life, he says. Sika -- Lightning Man in concert, doors will open at 7.30pm. Tickets are $20 adult, $45 family, $15 stu- dents, $5 for children under 13 and are avail- able from Artworks Theatre@gmail.com or 372-2941.
