Their methods will be taught at a holistic nursing workshop at Fossil Bay on June 11. By LYNDAL JEFFERIES Fossil Bay Kindergarten is hosting a holistic nursing workshop this Saturday, offering participants infor- mation on caring for their families using holistic health methods. Holistic health is one of the philosophies of Rudolf Steiner, the Austrian founder of the Waldorf/ Rudolf Steiner schools. The day will be hosted by Nicole Adams who works as a registered nurse in family health. Steiner Kindergarten manager Dawn Jeffrey says: Nurse Adams brings 15 years experience to her workshops with the aim of teaching each participant effective ways of con- fidently supporting health in their home. Nicole Adams says: Good parenting through childhood often seems a maze of contradictory advice and suggestions. Caring for a sick child can be even worse with all the associated fears about doing it right. The one-day seminar provides sup- port for understanding the role of ill- ness in child development and how to assist in this process using com- presses, inhalations and other home- nursing skills. This is a wonderful opportunity for Waiheke caregivers, especially with winter very close now, Ms Jeffrey says. To book a place contact Dawn Jef- frey on 372-2152 or fossilbay email@example.com -- numbers are limited to 20. There are also spaces currently available for three-and-a- half to six-year-olds at the Fossil Bay Steiner Kindergarten. The radio station s new home is at The White House on Korora Rd, which was formerly a one-bedroom house. The station plans to run a training pro- gramme for new volunteers. Planting improves grounds for all Getting stuck in: Waiheke Primary School students planting fruit trees for their school garden. Students and parents spent the day digging in to help improve the Waiheke Primary School grounds on Sunday, June 5. They planted shade trees and daffodils and got the winter vegetable garden under way and were rewarded with a barbecue for their efforts. Board member Christy Ralphs says: It s great to keep developing the school grounds so they are more enjoyable for everyone. Residents can sponsor a tree for the school -- costing from $15 to $110. Contact the school office on 372-2006 for further details.
