Jazz band the Thomas Botting Group will headline at Salt res- taurant on the Strand in Onetangi this week- end, playing both the Saturday night and Sunday long lunch slots. The winter jazz series at the venue also known as The Dunes has so far seen island jazz performers the Pat Urlich Band, Chocolate Fish and the Pete Reilly Trio as well as jazz festival favourites The Jimmy Garden Quartet from Auckland. The Thomas Botting Group is a favourite of Waiheke International Jazz Festival director John Quigly. Mr Quigly says they will be taking jazz history into the fu- ture'' for their Salt performances. These guys are the young guns on the jazz scene in Auckland -- they're graduates of the Massey jazz school. Dinner bookings are from 6pm on Saturday night and noon on Sunday. Call 372-8846 to book.
