Passengers on Saturday s 11am SeaLink sailing to Half Moon Bay were treated to a spectacular sight of flapping sails and stretched spinnakers as a fleet of yachts headed for Motuihe. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron s Club Marine Winter Series event attracted a huge number of entries into the six-hour competition. Despite a flat calm start the wind soon came up to provide perfect sailing conditions. New man at the helm of SeaLink Handing over: Todd Bolton takes over as general manager at SeaLink from Donna Gauci. SeaLink general manager Donna Gauci will say fare- well to Waiheke next month to take up the position of gen- eral manager for SeaLink Kangaroo Island based in Adelaide. Mrs Gauci was hired as sales and marketing manager for the ferry company in 2005 and was promoted to the pos- ition of general manager in 2006 when chief executive Michael Moore stepped down. She was instrumental in the rebranding of the organis- ation when SeaLink pur- chased the company from the Subritzky family. She has also guided the company through protracted negoti- ations for a long-term lease at Wynyard Wharf where SeaLink s administration offices are located. Taking over her position is Todd Bolton who has exten- sive experience in the tour- ism industry having held gen- eral manager roles at P&O Cruises, Holiday Shoppe and more recently travel IT com- pany, Sabre Pacific. Mr Bolton will have a five- week handover with Mrs Gauci, before her departure for Adelaide. Mrs Gauci says: SeaLink is an operationally complex organisation and I am confi- dent that our strong leader- ship team will be a great sup- port to Todd during his induction and as he gains an understanding of the busi- ness. The company is well placed to move forward under his guidance. On a separate note, leav- ing the island will be difficult. I would like to thank every- one who has supported me during my time with SeaLink. I have thoroughly enjoyed the relationships within the community and with our customers and our family feels very privileged to have lived here for the past five years. SeaLink is the major spon- sor of the SeaLink Jassy Dean Trust Garden Safari, as well as supporting sports clubs and other community causes.
