Classic cars and motorbikes from around Waiheke are invited to take part in the last Show and Shine to fea- ture the New Zealand Hot Rod Association this Saturday. Event organiser Matt Atiga says: It is with great sadness that this is the final time the New Zealand Hotrod Associ- ation has planned to showcase the rods after many years. With the passing of the guard to new man- agement after one of their original members passed away last year it seems as though this will be the last one.'' The event is always a popular day out for fam- ilies. Children enjoy a ride in the hotrods around the roads close to the Causeway and grownups appreciate checking under the hoods and inside the gleaming vehicles. Stalls will be selling their wares and musicians will entertain the crowds. This year there will be an open mike element to the entertainment. Mr Atiga says the com- munity is welcome to take to the stage and show off their talents. If you have a band or act that you would like to showcase and play in front of a live audience then come on down and show everyone how gifted you are,'' he says. The day runs from 10am to 5pm with the hotrods giving rides for a gold coin donation throughout the day. As this will be the final opportunity to see the classic cars from the Hot Rod Association, Mr Atiga says all those with their own classic car or bike should bring it down to the sports club on the Causeway and line it up alongside the hotrods for everyone to appreciate and make the day the biggest yet. Entry by gold coin donation. Email mattatiga@ hotmail.com for inform- ation on taking part. Hartley market Hartley Ave residents will mark Anniversary weekend with a street market from 9am to 2pm on January 29. Residents usually have an annual barbecue but this year they will celebrate their com- munity spirit with stalls at their properties, sell- ing anything from art to lounge suites and any- thing in between''. Festival of jazz is coming back Great day out: The Good Friday Groove will be back again for this year's Waiheke International Jazz Festival.
