Winners must be able to pick up their tickets at the Waiheke Marketplace offices, Tahi Rd, by 5pm on Friday. Question: Which Waiheke resident is the brand manager for New Zealand Fashion Week? Myken Stewart is clocking up her 11th year as brand manager at the coun- try s leading fashion event. New Zealand Fashion Week is in full swing and 40,000 people are expected to have visited the Viaduct Events Centre by the end of Fashion Week- end. Up to 1000 people can pack out the big venue when a popular show like Trelise Cooper is centre stage. The trade show features about 55 designer brands and Myken is in charge of 36 sponsors and nearly 40 affiliates. That s a lot of people to keep happy. The Waiheke resident still com- mutes to town and tries to spend two days working on the island in the lead up, staying only one night in Auck- land, but it is a juggle. It doesn t always work, she says. The event was started by Myken s mother Pieter Stewart 12 years ago as a fashion trade show. In its fifth year Fashion Weekend was born, which was designed to meet the needs of the growing interest from the public. Fashion Week is and always will be a trade event and Fashion Weekend is a lot more interactive and fun, and open to the public, Myken says. The cornerstones of Fashion Week- end are the Designer Fashion Garage Sale and the Designer Selection Show which showcases a couple of pieces from each designer and a couple that are in the stores right now. Fashionistas who cannot make the two designer selection shows at the weekend should note it is also on dur- ing the week and is open to the public on Thursday at noon, and Friday at 2.30pm. It s phenomenal value, the goodie bag value of the Designer Selection Show is worth way more than the tick- ets. Meanwhile, pregnant Myken is look- ing forward to a little time off to have her baby. Eleven years is a lot. I d like to sit a year out and develop a few other bits and pieces around the event. Entry to Fashion Weekend is just $12 or if you are taking in a show for $15 it gives you free entry for the day. The Designer Selection Shows seats are $60 or $100 with goodie bags. Visit nzfashionweek.com for information on Fashion Week and Fashion Weekend.
