Folk festival events ideal for 60s lovers By GEORGE GARDNER A festival with a folky feel will see Onetangi come alive with singer- songwriters and 60s lovers this week- end. The first Waiheke Folk Festival will run from Friday to Sunday at different times at different venues. The event, organised by folk musician Mala Somersun, will kick off at 8.30pm on Friday with "singing in the round" at the Beach Front Cafe for a koha entry. Punters are advised to book for the three-course 60s feast on Saturday at 6.30pm at Onetangi Hall. Tickets are $25. This will be followed by a "sen- sational 60s concert and dance" at the same venue. Concert performers will include Chris Priestley, WilkieMac, Ian Simpson and men s choir V12. Trad folk musician Angela Fox, who is one-third of the jazz/ swing trio band Chillele, will also join the line-up. Entry is $20. Ms Somersun says: "Dress to impress! Everyone is welcome. Musicians need an audience, so come on down. A shared feast and farewell concert back at the hall from noon on Sunday will have a koha entry.
