Oyster opening, right: Rachel Hunter and several famous chefs attended the Saturday night launch. Open now, above: The new-look deck above Oneroa village. The Oyster Inn has opened after a slick Saturday launch that attracted members of the glitterati like Rachel Hunter, Peter Gordon and MasterChef New Zealand judge Josh Emett. But it's not just about champagne and three types of oyster, which are in abun- dance if you want them. You can have breakfast, lunch, bites or a full blown dinner at the Inn which own- ers Jonathan Rutherfurd Best and Andrew Glenn are looking forward to sharing with locals. The menu offers a variety of options and includes local produce like Rangihoua Estate olive oils, wines from six Waiheke vineyards and, of course, Te Matuku oysters. The outfit includes three boutique accommodation units, a seaside shop, a bar and restaurant and a dining room with one huge table. It's got a vibe reminiscent of Raffles -- but it's on your doorstep in Oneroa Village. Andrew says the idea was to create a little escape up the ramp''. The views are so breath- taking. The building reminded me of the ones you see in Hawai'i, with a res- taurant upstairs. It's a lovely respite but still part of the village.'' They are looking forward to a busy season but it's not just about summer and the tourists. We hope the Oyster Inn becomes a great seaside res- taurant that is loved by loc- als who want to have good food and wine in all sea- sons,'' Andrew says. Maitre d' and sommelier Claire Dunleavy echoes that sentiment. I can't wait for the locals to come up and enjoy what we've got to offer,'' Claire says. Visit theoysterinn.co.nz or just drop in to the Oyster Inn to find out more. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between!
