The long hot summer, and result- ing empty water tanks, has been the inspiration for Palm Beach artist Ingrid Berzins. The colours of drought, dream- ing of downpours and thinking of ways to collect rain, has resulted in a suite of paintings by the much-admired artist. The whimsical interpretations of the weather can be seen at her studio next to the dairy at Palm Beach over Easter weekend. Ingrid will be busy at work in her odd little orange chair in the sundrenched back room of the stu- dio so visitors will be able to watch her in action and ask ques- tions. She is also busy finishing works for an exhibition with Katie Trin- kle Legge called On The Lighter Side at the Railway St Studios in Newmarket from April 5 to 24. Ingrid says although she has used a slightly different colour palette and taken a different approach to her pieces, her recog- nisable style is still at the fore. It's what you'd usually expect from me.'' Her acrylic and mixed media paintings, along with prints and cards, will be for sale at her Palm Rd studio this Easter weekend. Ingrid will be at her studio from 10.30am until 3pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Fruit is on offer at Katie's open studio Central theme: Limes and other fruits are often a feature of Katie Trinkle Legge's oil paintings. One person who is happy to see the end of the harsh light the summer days bring is artist Katie Trinkle Legge. ''I love it when autumn comes as the sunlight in my studio changes. It's better for my work.'' Keen art lovers will have the opportunity to see Katie in action in her studio this weekend. At the studio on George St, Surfdale, visitors will preview artworks Katie will be featuring at her upcoming exhibition with Ingrid Berzins called On the Lighter Side, at the Railway St Studios in Newmarket from April 5 to 24. Katie's work focuses on large still life pieces, with fruit a central theme.
