Gary Two New Zealand icons in the esh Scouting for bargains Community event: Head down to the old Blackpool School this Sunday morning for the car boot sale fundraiser to help Waiheke First Sea Scouts get to their jamboree at the end of the year. Young First Waiheke Sea Scouts will be out early on Sunday to help with their monthly car boot sale at the old Blackpool School. The sale from 10am till 1pm is a chance to raise funds towards their trip to Feilding at the end of the year, where 22 Scouts and six of their leaders will take part in their 20th anniversary jamboree. The fundraising drive has included two movie nights at the Waiheke Community Cinema, and four car boot sales. Scouts were also out and about selling choc- olate last month. A 1940s bingo night is planned for August. So far the campaign has raised a total of $5331.50. Committee member Michelle Lewis says it will cost $1000 per Scout to get them to the jam- boree. The Great Gatsby night raised $751, so that will pay for three- quarters of a Scout to get there. You can see it s a big, ongoing task. Go to the car boot sale on Sunday, or make a donation online to the First Waiheke Sea Scouts account 02-0108-0013102-01, with the reference ''Jamboree''.
