www.waihekemarketplace.co.nz NEWS Carols by glowstick big draw Vector Arena will be filled with thousands of voices and lit up by glowsticks this month in an annual sell-out carol concert. Glow – Carols by Glowstick on December 15 is being hosted by Petra Bagust. It stars X Factor’s Maaka Fiso, the St Paul’s band and choirs, and surprise guests. Petra Bagust says: ‘‘It’s just a sensational celebration, a time for friends and family to get together and enjoy singing. And singing is good for the soul.’’ The programme is a mix of traditional and contemporary arrangements of well-known and new Christmas carols. Its unique Christmas storytelling includes St Paul’s globally renowned short films. And there are 10,000 free glowsticks provided. Gates open at 1pm and entry is free. Kids will also get a complimentary icecream, games and rides. The sausage sizzle is free. No need to be home alone Residents are being reminded there is no need to spend Christmas alone. The Combined Chur- ches and community volunteers are holding a Christmas lunch at the Onetangi Community Hall. The free lunch is for those without family, or alone who would like to share a meal with others on Christmas Day. Choral cheer at church Waiheke Choral Society will bring some Christmas cheer to St Peter’s Catholic Church this Sunday. It will present a programme of Christmas music at the church on Ocean View Rd in Oneroa at 5pm.
